Clay Bar Medium 2 x 50g

Wash the car, run the back of your fingers over the bonnet, and it still feels like fine sandpaper. That is bonded contamination — iron fallout, tar, tree sap, overspray — and it stays put until something shears it off. Detailing clay does exactly that. ADBL's medium-grade bar comes as two 50g pieces, firm enough to pull real contamination out of a daily driver, soft enough not to mar hard modern clearcoat when it is used with plenty of lubricant.

Why it works

  • Medium grade — the right bite for a normal road car that has never been clayed
  • Lifts iron fallout, tar spots, tree sap, overspray and mineral deposits
  • Works on paint, glass and gloss trim
  • Two 50g pieces — keep one clean for the final pass, or bin one if you drop it
  • Shows you the dirt: the bar goes grey, you fold it, the surface is clean again

When to use it

After washing and chemical decontamination, before polishing, sealing or coating. Once or twice a year on a daily driver, or whenever the paint feels rough after a wash. Always with a clay lubricant.

Straight from us

Do the iron remover and tar remover first. Vampire Liquid and Tar Remover take off the bulk chemically, the clay finishes the job, and you use half the bar. Skip that step and you are grinding tar spots into the clay and dragging them across the panel.

What it won't do

It will not remove swirls or scratches — decontamination is not correction, and any clay can leave light marring on soft paint, so plan a polish afterwards. Drop a piece on the floor and it is finished; grit in clay will scratch.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a clay lubricant?
Yes, always. Work on a wet, lubricated panel with a dedicated clay lube or a slick shampoo solution; clay on a dry panel mars paint.

Clay bar or clay towel?
The bar bites harder and is better on a heavily contaminated or never-clayed car. The Clay Towel is faster, reusable and rinseable for regular maintenance decontamination.

How do I store it between uses?
In a sealed tub with a little water and a drop of shampoo, filled about a third of the way up, so it does not dry out.

How many cars will 100g do?
Several, depending on contamination. Fold the bar to a clean face as it greys, and stop using a piece once you can no longer find a clean face.
