Fits the VW Golf Mk6 R, 2009–2013 — R20 bumper. Not the GTI/GTD bumper or the standard Mk6 bumper — the GTI/GTD splitter is listed separately.
The R20 bumper has the big lower intakes and the deepest valance VW put on a Mk6, and it still finishes higher than it looks like it should. This splitter runs along the bottom edge and takes the front end down: gloss black out of the box, screwed into the underside of the bumper — no tape — and nothing is cut.
About the front splitter
A one-piece splitter moulded to the lower line of the R20 bumper, running the full width and following it into the corners. It is made from A-grade ABS plastic, which holds its shape across the width of the bumper and takes a knock without cracking the way fibreglass does.
It arrives finished in gloss black, so there is no paint and no colour match to get wrong. Once it is on, the front of the car reads lower and wider, and it ties in with side skirts and a rear diffuser if you are building a full kit.

Fitting it
Get the car on ramps or axle stands and clean the underside of the bumper. Offer the splitter up and check the gap at both ends before anything is drilled — a bumper that has been off the car before rarely sits square. Hold it in place with masking tape, pilot-drill through the splitter into the plastic underside of the bumper, and run the screws in from the centre outwards.
Delivery, fitting and returns
Delivery is £20 to any UK or Ireland address, on every body kit part. Or have it fitted at Blade Performance in Portadown for an extra £20 — supplied and fitted the same day. Check the splitter against the car before you drill anything, and let us know about any transit damage within 48 hours of delivery.
What it won't do
It will not fit a GTI, GTD or standard Mk6 bumper. The R20 lower edge is a different shape.
It will not hide a damaged bumper. The splitter sits below it; a scuff above it still shows.
It does not generate downforce at road speeds. It is a styling part.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Mk6 R20 splitter fit a replica R20 bumper?
Usually, yes — most replica bumpers copy the R20 lower edge closely. Replicas do vary, so dry fit it before drilling, or bring the car to us and we will check it on the spot.
Does the Golf Mk6 R front splitter need painting?
No. It is supplied in gloss black and goes straight on the car.
Do you have to drill the bumper?
Yes — small pilot holes in the plastic underside only, never in bodywork or paint. The screws are hidden once the splitter is on.
Will it survive speed bumps?
On a standard-height Golf R, yes. Lowered hard on coilovers it will touch — take them at an angle.
