Black Carpet Dye — Car Carpet Restorer 1L
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
Years of sun through the windows, footwell grit and wet shoes turn black car carpets a tired grey, and no amount of shampooing brings them back — because it is the colour that has gone, not the dirt. Kellean Black Carpet Dye is a powder-free liquid dye that re-colours faded carpet back to a deep, even black once it is clean and dry. It is the difference between an interior that looks cleaned and one that looks new.
Why it works
- Restores colour rather than removing dirt — it does the job shampooing cannot
- Powder-free liquid formula, so there is no chalky residue left sitting in the pile
- Apply with an applicator pad for control, or spray it directly for larger areas
- Works for spot work or full floors — blend a worn heel patch or re-colour both footwells
- A full litre, so there is enough for boot carpets and parcel shelves as well as the footwells
When to use it
After the interior is fully cleaned and dried, as the last stage of a carpet refresh. Driver's footwell heel patches, the sill edge where feet swing in, boot floors and the areas either side of the transmission tunnel are where fading shows first. Get the carpets properly clean with a carpet and fabric cleaner before you reach for the dye.

Straight from us
Thin coats and patience. Two light passes blend into the surrounding carpet; one heavy pass leaves a hard edge you can see in daylight for the rest of the car's life. Mask or towel off the sill trim and seat rails before you start — dye that lands on plastic wants wiping straight away, not later.
What it won't do
It won't hide dirt — dye over a grubby carpet and you lock the grime in under the colour, permanently. It also won't repair damage: burns, tears and bald patches where the pile has worn through still look like burns, tears and bald patches, just blacker ones. And it is black only, so it is no use on grey or beige interiors.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to clean the carpet before using Kellean Black Carpet Dye?
Yes — Kellean specify the carpet must be clean, dry and free of debris. Dye applied over dirt seals the dirt in and the finish will be patchy.
How do I apply Kellean Black Carpet Dye?
Either work it in with an applicator pad or spray it directly onto the area, then wipe any overspray off surrounding trim straight away and let it dry fully.
When can I put the mats back in?
Once the carpet is completely dry to the touch. Give it longer in cold or damp weather, and leave the windows down or the heater on to speed it up.
Does Kellean Carpet Dye come in other colours?
No — this is a black dye only, so it suits black and very dark grey carpets.
Is there a smaller aerosol option?
Yes — the Elements Xpert Black Dye comes as a 500ml aerosol, handy for small patches.
