Clay Mitt Paint Decontamination Mitt
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
A clay bar does a headlight in the time a clay mitt does a door. The Clay Mitt is a polymer decontamination face bonded to the front of an 18 x 15cm wash mitt, so the whole hand becomes the tool: lubricate the panel, sweep, and the bonded tar, fallout and resin shear off in a fraction of the time. Drop it and you rinse it, rather than binning it. ADBL rate it for roughly 25 to 40 cars with care.
Why it works
- Polymer face does the job of a clay bar over a whole hand's width at once
- Removes tar, resin, asphalt, insect residue and bonded fallout from paint and glass
- Rinse it clean mid-job, and rinse it if it hits the floor — a dropped clay bar is finished
- Reverse face is a standard wash mitt, so it doubles as a lower-panel mitt on wash day
- ADBL rate it for around 25–40 cars
- 18 x 15cm — fits most hands
When to use it
After the wash and after chemical decontamination (iron and tar removers), while the car is still wet, before polishing, sealing or coating. Once or twice a year on a daily driver, more often on a car that lives near a railway or an industrial estate.

Straight from us
Soften it in warm water first and keep the panel soaking wet with clay lube — a dry pass is how polymer clay mars paint, not a fault with the mitt. Rinse the mitt every panel; what it pulls off the paint has to go somewhere.
What it won't do
It will not remove scratches or swirls, and like all clay it can leave light marring on soft paint — plan to polish afterwards. Never use it with solvent-based products such as tar remover (they destroy the polymer face), and keep it away from temperatures above 40°C. Pre-treat heavy tar chemically before the mitt goes near it.
Frequently asked questions
Clay Mitt or Clay Towel?
Same polymer face, different format. The Clay Towel is a flat 30 x 30cm towel that folds for control; the mitt goes over the hand and is faster on large panels. Both beat a clay bar for speed.
Do I need a clay lubricant?
Yes, always. A dedicated clay lube or a slick shampoo solution, and plenty of it. Never use it on a dry panel.
What if I drop it?
Rinse it thoroughly in clean water and carry on. That is the main advantage over a clay bar.
How do I look after it?
Rinse after use, let it air dry away from heat, and store it in its packaging. Keep solvents and temperatures above 40°C away from it.
