VW Golf Mk5 Front Splitter

Fits every VW Golf Mk5 hatchback, 2004–2008 — standard bumper and GTI/GT bumper. Not the Jetta Mk5 — that has its own splitter.

The Mk5 Golf is now a proper modern classic, and the first thing most of them are missing is a lower front end. This splitter gives it one: a single piece of gloss black ABS that sits under the bumper, screwed in from below — no tape — with nothing cut.

About the front splitter

One splitter covers the whole Mk5 hatchback range, from a standard S or SE bumper up to the GTI and GT. It runs the full width of the bumper and follows the lower edge into the corners, so the front of the car reads lower and wider without looking bolted on.

It is A-grade ABS plastic in a gloss black finish — no painting, and it takes the odd knock from a kerb or a speed bump without cracking the way fibreglass would.

Fitting it

With the front of the car up on ramps, clean the underside of the bumper and offer the splitter up. Check it sits even at both ends before anything is drilled — an older Mk5 bumper has often been off the car and may not sit square. Tape it in place, pilot-drill into the bumper plastic only, and screw it up from the centre outwards.

Delivery, fitting and returns

Delivery is £20 to any UK or Ireland address, on every body kit part. Or have it fitted at Blade Performance in Portadown for an extra £20 — supplied and fitted the same day. Check the splitter against the car before you drill anything, and let us know about any transit damage within 48 hours of delivery.

What it won't do

It will not fit the Jetta Mk5 — the Jetta has its own front bumper.

It will not straighten a bumper that has been knocked out of line. Fix the bumper mounts first, or the splitter will show the gap.

It is a styling part, not an aero part.
