MIG or TIG welder (stainless steel wire/rod recommended)
Angle grinder with flap disc
Wire brush or stainless steel cleaner
Clamps or exhaust tip holder
Welding PPE (gloves, mask, jacket)
Step-by-Step Welding Guide

Clean the surfaces — Use a wire brush or stainless steel cleaner to remove any dirt, grease, or rust from both the exhaust pipe and the inside of the tip where they will join.
Dry fit the tip — Slide the exhaust tip over the pipe and check alignment. Ensure it sits straight and centred before welding.

Clamp in position — Secure the tip firmly with clamps to prevent movement during welding.

Tack weld first — Apply 3–4 small tack welds evenly around the joint to hold the tip in place before running a full bead.

Run a full weld bead — Using stainless steel MIG wire (e.g. 308L or 316L) or TIG rod, weld continuously around the full circumference of the joint. Keep a consistent speed and angle for an even bead.

Allow to cool naturally — Do not quench with water. Allow the weld to cool at room temperature to avoid warping or cracking.

Grind and finish — Once cool, use a flap disc to smooth any excess weld. Polish with a stainless steel finishing pad for a clean look.

Inspect the weld — Check for any gaps, pinholes, or weak spots. Re-weld any areas that look incomplete before use.

⚠️ Always weld in a well-ventilated area and wear appropriate PPE. If you are not confident welding stainless steel, we strongly recommend using a professional exhaust technician.
