Tar spots on the lower doors, the gum left by a dealer sticker, a price label on a windscreen, felt-tip on a seat. None of it shifts with shampoo, and scraping it makes it worse. Tenzi Tar & Glue Remover is a solvent and alcohol aerosol tar remover for spot cleaning exactly these marks off paint, glass and textile, in a can that is always ready when you find one.

Why it works

  • Solvent and alcohol blend that dissolves tar, adhesive and sticker residue rather than smearing it
  • Also lifts marker pen, plasticine and paraffin wax from fabric, published by Tenzi
  • Aerosol format — no trigger to clog, no decanting, works at any angle
  • Designed for spot cleaning, so a 300ml can lasts a long time
  • Suitable for bodywork and windows as well as textile surfaces

When to use it

After washing and before polishing or waxing, on the tar speckles along sills, rear arches and behind the wheels. Also for removing old stickers, tape residue after a wrap or number plate change, and marks on seats and carpets. Test on a hidden area of fabric first.

Straight from us

Tenzi say spray it on the cloth, not the car, and they mean it. A solvent this effective will mark plastic trim and rubber seals if it runs onto them, so keep it on the cloth, work one spot at a time and wipe the area with a damp microfibre afterwards. For a whole car speckled with tar, the liquid tar and glue removers that you spray on and rinse off are quicker; the aerosol is for spot work and the glovebox.

What it won't do

It is not for plastics, rubber seals or rubber mats — Tenzi specifically warn against it, and the solvent can mark them. It also removes wax and sealant from any paint it touches, so re-protect the area afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Will it damage my paint?
No. Tenzi publish it for bodywork and windows. It will remove wax or sealant from the spot you treat, so top the protection up afterwards.

Can I use it on plastic trim?
No. Tenzi advise against use on plastics, rubber seals and rubber mats because of the solvent content. Keep the cloth away from trim when working near it.

Does it remove stickers?
Yes — sticker residue, tape adhesive and label glue are what it is designed for. Peel the sticker first, then dissolve what is left with the product on a cloth.

Is it safe on fabric seats?
Tenzi publish it for textile surfaces including marker, plasticine and paraffin marks. Test on a hidden area first and blot rather than rub.
