Drying is where most swirl marks are born. SWAG's Hydro Coat is a concentrated synthetic hydro wax you spray over the soaking wet car at the end of the rinse — it breaks the water film so most of it sheets straight off the panels, leaving far less for your towel to do, and it leaves a hydrophobic wax film behind while it is at it. At 1:100 a 500ml bottle makes 50 litres of solution.

Read the dilution before you judge the price. 500ml at 1:100 is fifty litres of working solution — this is not a ready-to-use bottle competing with a £12 wet coat, it is a concentrate that will outlast several of them. That said, it only makes sense if you actually dilute it properly; used neat it is expensive and no better.

What it won't do

It is not a ceramic coating. It will not clean the car, and it will not replace a proper sealant or wax if long-term protection is what you are after — for the SiO2 version, see the Ceramic Hydro Coat.

Do I spray it on a wet or dry car?
Wet. Apply it immediately after washing, while the car is still soaking, then rinse and dry.

What ratio for what job?
SWAG publish 1:100 (10ml per litre) for drying the vehicle, and 1:33 (30ml per litre) to lay a hydrophobic protective layer.

What is the difference from Ceramic Hydro Coat?
This is synthetic wax; the Ceramic version is SiO2-based, far more concentrated at 1:650, and leaves a harder film. This one is the cheaper per-wash workhorse.

Directions

Apply in a shaded area on a cool, clean surface, immediately after washing the vehicle.
Shake the bottle before use.
Dilute the concentrate according to the job: 1:100 (10ml per 1L) for drying, 1:33 (30ml per 1L) for a hydrophobic protective layer.
Spray onto the wet surface of the vehicle using a sprayer.
Cover everything — body panels, wheels and glass.
Wait 2 to 5 minutes for the water film to break. You will see the hydrophobic effect develop.
Rinse the entire vehicle thoroughly.
Dry with a towel or air blower.

Safety: causes skin irritation and serious eye damage. Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Wear gloves.
