Stjärnagloss Glir Specialist Clay Lubricant puts a slick, surfactant-rich layer between the clay and the paint, so bonded tar spots, fallout and overspray lift off without the clay grabbing.

It works with clay bars, clay mitts and clay towels, and it is safe on gloss paint, matte finishes and wrapped panels. Spray it on a wet panel, glide the clay, wipe the residue off with a clean microfibre and move on. Once the whole car is done, put the protection back on with Glatt Rinse-Aid or your usual wax.

How to use

Wash and rinse the car first, then work one panel at a time. Spray Glir generously onto the wet panel, glide the clay in straight lines with light pressure, and re-spray if the surface starts to dry. Wipe the residue away with a soft microfibre before moving to the next panel. Rinse the car when finished and apply protection.

Can I just use car shampoo as a clay lube?
You can, but shampoo is made to foam and rinse, not to stay slick under pressure. Glir holds its lubrication for longer on the panel, which is what stops the clay marring the paint.

Does Glir work with a clay mitt or clay towel?
Yes. It is formulated for every clay medium, and mitts and towels in particular need plenty of lubrication because they cover a larger area at once.

Will it strip my wax or sealant?
Glir itself is gentle, but the claying process removes a layer of protection whatever lube you use. Plan to re-apply a wax, sealant or Glatt after decontaminating.

How much do I need for one car?
Roughly 100–150ml for a full-size car if you keep the panel wet and re-spray as it dries, so one bottle does three to four cars.
