4-X Tyre Cleaner – Foaming Tyre Shine Spray 470ml

Tyre shine in about two minutes a car. 4-X is Soft99's foaming aerosol tyre dressing: spray it on, the foam grips the sidewall and spreads into the rubber, and once it settles you are left with a hydrophobic, wet-look black finish. Soft99 says it cuts working time by around 75% compared with a wipe-on dressing.

It is based on two types of silicone, and overspray wipes off the paint and trim without harm.

This is the tyre spray for speed and gloss. If you like a satin, factory look, use Digloss Black Devil instead; if you want the tyres to pop on a quick valet, 4-X is quicker than anything you wipe on by hand.

What it won't do

Despite the name, it is a dressing first – heavy grime and old browning should be cleaned off before use. Do not spray it onto the tread, and do not use it on motorbike or bicycle tyres, where it can cause slipping. It is an aerosol, so it drifts on a windy day.

Frequently asked questions

Does 4-X clean tyres or just shine them?

It is mainly a dressing. It handles light everyday soiling, but works best on tyres that have been washed and dried first.

Is 4-X a gloss or satin finish?

Gloss. It leaves a wet-look black finish. For satin, choose Digloss Black Devil.

What if I get it on the wheel or paint?

Wipe it off with a microfibre cloth. Soft99 says it does not harm paint or trim.

Can I use it on motorbike tyres?

No. Soft99 warns against using it on motorbike or bicycle tyres because it can make them slippery.
