A cleaned engine bay looks good for about a fortnight — then dust sticks to the damp plastics and it's grey again. Motorplast is Koch Chemie's answer: a water-displacing conserver that dries to a completely non-sticky, permanently elastic film, so plastics, rubber hoses and housings stay dark and dirt has nothing to cling to.

Why it works

  • Dries fully — no oily residue, so dust and dirt don't stick to the finish
  • Water-displacing formula can go straight onto a wet, freshly rinsed engine bay
  • Permanently elastic film protects against corrosion and environmental influence
  • Temperature resistant to 250°C, so engine heat doesn't break it down
  • Carries a Daimler approval — specified for use on Mercedes-Benz production
  • Natural satin sheen rather than a wet, greasy look

When to use it

Straight after an engine bay clean, while the bay is still wet if you like. Also earns its keep on external housings and rubber hoses on commercial vehicles. Apply a thin, even film with a spray bottle, then let it dry fully before closing the bonnet.

Straight from us

The trick with Motorplast is spraying it onto the bay while it's still dripping from the rinse — the water-displacing formula pushes the moisture out and you skip the drying stage entirely. For valeters doing engine bays every week, that's real time saved on every job.

What it won't do

It doesn't clean — it conserves. Degrease the bay first with an all-purpose cleaner such as GS Green Star, then seal the result with Motorplast. Avoid it anywhere a slippery film would be a problem, like pedals or belt surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply Motorplast to a wet engine bay?
Yes — it is water-displacing and works on wet or dry surfaces, so it can go on straight after rinsing.

Does Motorplast leave a greasy film?
No. It dries completely to a non-sticky, elastic film with a natural sheen, which is why dirt doesn't stick to it.

How much heat can it take?
Koch Chemie state temperature resistance up to 250°C, comfortably above normal engine bay temperatures.

Is it only for engine bays?
No — it also suits housing parts, rubber hoses and power units on cars and commercial vehicles.
