Proficlean Acid-Free Traffic Film Remover
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
Winter road film is the reason cars pick up swirls between November and March. Salt, diesel mist and farm muck bond to the lower panels, and washing it off by hand means dragging grit across paint that is already cold and brittle. Proficlean is a concentrated, acid-free traffic film remover that softens that layer and rinses most of it away before a mitt ever touches the car.
Why it works
- Acid-free chemistry — it cleans hard without the risk acidic TFRs carry on trim and lacquered wheels
- Added rinse aids help the dirt sheet off with the water rather than sit and re-deposit
- Concentrated, so one bottle mixes into a lot of trigger sprayer or foam lance solution
- Works on the things a shampoo won't touch — brake dust, oil, grease and baked road film
- Cuts the contact stage down, which is where wash marring actually comes from
- Three sizes — 500ml, 1L and a 5L for vans, fleets and busy winters
When to use it
Before the contact wash, on a cool car out of direct sun. Sills, lower doors, bumpers, wheel arches and the tailgate around the numberplate are where road film loads up. On a gritted-roads week it earns its keep every wash; in summer it is the product for a motorway car that has gone a fortnight. See the rest of our Snow Foam & Pre-Wash range.

Straight from us
Kellean don't publish a dilution ratio, so start at the weakest mix that shifts the dirt and work up — you will use less product and put less stress on your protection. Work bottom-up on the lower panels so the run-off lands on dirt you haven't cleaned yet, and never let it dry on a panel.
What it won't do
It won't leave your wax untouched with repeated heavy use — any TFR strong enough to strip road film will thin a wax layer over time, so re-check your protection through winter. It also won't remove bonded tar or iron fallout, which need a dedicated fallout remover.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kellean Proficlean safe on paintwork?
Yes — Proficlean is acid-free and made for use on automotive paint. Apply it to a cool panel out of direct sunlight and rinse before it dries, as with any strong pre-wash.
What dilution should I use?
Kellean Chemicals don't publish a ratio for Proficlean. Start with a weak mix in a trigger sprayer or foam lance and increase the strength only if heavy soiling needs it.
Can I use Proficlean on wheels?
Yes — it breaks down brake dust and grime on wheels as part of the pre-wash. Keep it off hot brakes and rinse thoroughly.
Will Proficlean remove my wax?
Repeated use will reduce a wax or sealant layer over time. That is true of any traffic film remover — plan to top up your protection through the winter months.
