Brake dust is not dirt. It is hot iron and pad material fired onto the wheel and left to bond there. Acidic cleaners shift it quickly but they also attack lacquer, polished lips and anodised finishes, which is why plenty of alloys end up looking dull long before they look dirty. Elements Xpert Wheel Clean is an acid-free wheel cleaner, supplied ready to use, that lifts brake dust and road film off lacquered alloys, painted wheels and plastic trims without that risk.

When to use it
Every wash on a car with soft pads, and as the first step of any wheels-off detail. Spray cool wheels only — a hot wheel dries the product before it can work and risks staining the finish. On heavily contaminated wheels, follow it with an iron fallout remover rather than reaching for something stronger.

Straight from us
Spray from the bottom of the wheel upwards, not the other way round. Work downwards and the runs land on dry, dirty surface and dry in as tide marks you then have to chase. Work upwards and every run lands on wet, already-treated metal. It costs nothing to do it in the right order.
What it won't do
It will not remove bonded iron fallout on its own. Wheel Clean is a maintenance cleaner — baked-on embedded brake dust needs Iron Fall Reactive, and tar around the arch edges needs Tar & Glue Remover. Unlacquered polished, anodised and bare metal wheels should be tested on a hidden area first.

Yes. Wheel Clean is acid free and Elements Xpert list it as suitable for lacquered alloy, painted and plastic wheel trims. Test unlacquered polished, anodised or bare metal finishes on a hidden area first.
Do I need to dilute it?
No. The 5L is supplied ready to use. For light maintenance cleaning it can be diluted 1:1 with water, which doubles what the drum covers.
How long do I leave it on the wheel?
Three to five minutes on a cool wheel, then agitate and rinse. Do not let it dry on the surface.
What is the difference between Wheel Clean and Rim & Tyre Shampoo?
Wheel Clean is a ready-to-use acid-free cleaner aimed at brake dust and road film. Rim & Tyre Shampoo is a concentrated shampoo for routine washing of wheels and tyres together.
