Leather Conditioner Nourishing Cream

Car leather dries out from the inside. Heat through the glass, cold nights and the constant rub of getting in and out pull the oils out of the hide, and once they have gone the surface goes hard, then hairline cracks appear along the bolster where the seat flexes most. Elements Xpert Leather Conditioner is a nourishing cream that reintroduces those essential oils, softening the leather and leaving a layer of protection on the natural hide.

When to use it

After cleaning, every time. A leather cleaner opens the pores and lifts grime out; conditioning is the step that replaces what the cleaning took with it. Twice a year is enough on a daily driver, more often on a car that lives outside or on light leather in a south-facing driveway. Concentrate on the driver's bolster and the seat base — they take the wear.

Sparingly is the word. Leather takes in what it needs and the rest sits on top collecting dust and going shiny, which is the greasy look people blame on the product. A pea-sized amount on an applicator does a whole seat panel — work it in, leave it twenty minutes, then buff the excess off with a dry microfibre.

What it won't do

It will not clean. Conditioning cream applied over dirt drives that dirt into the pores, so run Leather Clean first. It also will not repair leather that has already split or lost its topcoat — conditioning prevents that damage, it does not reverse it. It is not for Alcantara or suede.

Do I need to clean the leather first?
Yes. Elements Xpert Leather Conditioner should go onto clean, dry leather. Use Leather Clean first, let the seats dry, then condition — conditioning over dirt pushes grime into the pores.

How often should I condition car leather?
Twice a year covers most daily drivers. A car parked outside, a convertible, or light-coloured leather in constant sun is better done every three to four months.

Will it make the seats slippery or shiny?
Not if it is applied sparingly and buffed off. Shine and slickness come from leaving excess product on the surface, so use a small amount, work it in, and remove whatever the leather has not taken.

Can I use it on Alcantara or suede?
No. Leather Conditioner is for smooth finished hide. Alcantara and suede need a dedicated fabric-safe cleaner and no conditioning oils at all.
