This is the one we would hang in a family car. It is the least likely of the range to annoy a passenger, and it doesn't turn cloying when the car has sat in the sun all afternoon with the windows up.

What it won't do

It won't hold its own against strong smells. Laguna Breeze is deliberately light, so if the car carries dogs, gym kit or takeaways regularly, Coronado Cherry or Capistrano Coconut will stand up to it better.

Directions

1. Open the top of the wrapper and slide the card out about a third of the way.
2. Loop the string over the rear-view mirror stem, a headrest post or a grab handle.
3. Leave the card partly in its wrapper for a milder scent, or remove it fully for maximum strength.
4. Slide the card further out of the wrapper as the fragrance fades.
5. Keep it out of direct sunlight on the dashboard, which dries the card out early.
6. Replace it once the scent has gone — a paper card cannot be recharged.
