Tar spots behind the wheel arches and down the sills are a fact of life on freshly dressed roads, and no shampoo will touch them. Scrub them and you scratch the paint; leave them and they set harder. Bonnychem Tar & Glue Remover is a solvent tar and glue remover that softens tar, sticker glue and adhesive residue so it wipes off.

When to use it
After the wash, on the lower third of the car, once you can feel or see the spots. It is also the job before you fit a new badge or plate, to get every trace of the old adhesive off first.

Work bottom-up and give it time. Apply, leave it a minute to soften the tar, then wipe with a cloth you are happy to bin, because tar does not wash out of microfibre. Wash the panel again afterwards so no solvent is left sitting on the paint.
What it won't do
It will not remove iron fallout or the orange specks of brake dust on white paint; that is a job for an iron fallout remover. Solvents also take wax and sealant with them, so plan to protect the treated area again.

Is Bonnychem Tar & Glue Remover safe on car paint?
Solvent tar removers are designed for use on cured automotive paint. Test on a small hidden area first, do not let it dry on the panel, and wash it off afterwards.
Will tar and glue remover damage plastic trim?
Keep solvent off textured and unpainted plastics where you can, and wipe off any overspray straight away, as some trim can mark.
Can I use it to remove stickers?
Yes. Peel what you can, then use Tar & Glue Remover to soften the adhesive left on the panel or glass and wipe it away.
