5" Heavy Cut Polishing Pad (T80)

The workhorse of the range. The  5" T80 Heavy Cut Pad is built for serious correction — moderate scratches, heavy swirl marks, haze and oxidation. Pair it with a quality cutting compound and it removes defects with fewer passes, so you spend less time on each panel and less heat goes into the paint.

Which Pad Do I Need?

Use the Heavy Cut pad for the first stage of correction on swirled or scratched paint, then refine with the Medium or Light Cut pad and finish with the Finishing pad for maximum gloss.

Directions

1. Wash, dry and decontaminate the paintwork, then centre the pad on a 5" hook-and-loop backing plate.
2. Apply 3–5 pea-sized dots of cutting compound to the pad face and dab it around the panel before switching the machine on.
3. Spread the compound at low speed, then work a 50cm x 50cm section in slow, overlapping passes at medium speed with light-to-moderate pressure.
4. Wipe the residue away with a clean microfibre and inspect under good lighting — repeat the set if deeper defects remain.
5. Refine the finish with a medium or light pad and polish, and clean this pad regularly with a pad brush so it keeps cutting consistently.
