Auto Choice Heavy Duty Rubber Car Mats — Front Pair, Trim to Fit
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
Carpet mats are fine until the first wet week in November. After that they hold water, they smell, and the grit works through to the floor underneath. The Auto Choice PM20 heavy duty rubber car mats are a front pair made from odourless PU rubber: waterproof, hose-off clean, and cut to fit with a knife so they suit the footwell rather than roughly covering it.
Why it works
- Solid rubber — mud, water and grit sit on the surface and rinse straight off
- Waterproof, so nothing soaks through to the carpet underneath
- Odourless PU rubber; no rubber smell in a warm car
- Trim-to-fit outline: cut along the moulded lines for a closer fit than a universal carpet mat
- Anti-slip backing keeps the driver's mat off the pedals
- Front pair, which is where 90% of the dirt comes in
When to use it
Work vans, farm runabouts, dog cars, anything parked on a building site, and every daily driver from October to March. Also the right mat for the driver's side of a car that otherwise runs carpet — put rubber where the boots land and keep the carpet for the passengers.

Straight from us
Trim cautiously. Lay the mat in, mark where it fouls the sill or the tunnel with chalk, take it out and cut a little at a time with a sharp blade — you can always take more off. Cleaning is a hose and a stiff brush; if you want them to look new again, a coat of a water-based trim dressing brings the black back.
What it won't do
This is a front pair only — there are no rear mats in the pack. It will not give you the soft finish of a carpet mat, and it is not moulded to a specific vehicle, so the trimming is on you. If you want carpet with a bit of colour, the PM23 velour sets are the alternative.
Frequently asked questions
Do rubber car mats smell?
These are made from PU rubber described by Auto Choice as odourless, which is the reason to choose them over cheaper recycled-rubber mats that can smell strongly when the car warms up.
How do I trim them?
Sit the mat in the footwell, mark the excess, then cut along the moulded guide lines with a sharp knife on a flat surface. Cut a little at a time and re-check the fit.
Are they safe with the pedals?
The backing is anti-slip and trimming lets you keep the mat well clear of the pedals. Check the driver's mat cannot bunch up under the pedals before you drive, as you should with any mat.
How do I clean them?
Take them out, hose them down, brush off anything stubborn and stand them to dry. No cleaner needed for everyday mud; an all purpose cleaner handles oil or grease.
