Polish leaves oils behind, and those oils fill the defects you just spent an afternoon removing. Look at the panel and it's perfect. Wash it a fortnight later and the swirls are back — they never left. Inspector strips that residue off so you see the paint as it actually is, and so a coating has bare, clean lacquer to bond to.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as IPA?
It does the same job with a solvent blend rather than neat isopropyl alcohol, and it smells far better. ADBL sell a separate straight IPA if you prefer that.
Do I need it before a ceramic coating?
Yes. Coatings bond to bare, oil-free paint. Skipping the panel wipe is the most common reason a coating fails early.
Will it damage trim?
Use it on paint and glass. Keep it off unsealed plastics and test first.
