Most smeared finishes are not the product's fault — they are one cloth doing two jobs. Lifting cured wax off a panel and buffing that panel to gloss need different surfaces, and a single-pile towel loads up on the first pass then drags the residue straight back across the paint on the second. The DUAL X 400 has a different pile on each side: one face to take the product off, one face to bring the gloss up.

Why it works

  • Dual pile — one face for product removal, the other reserved for the final buff
  • 400 GSM plush weave carries residue down into the pile instead of pushing it around the panel
  • Edgeless — no stitched border to mar paint, piano black trim, screens or polished chrome
  • 40 x 40cm folds into eight working faces, so one cloth covers a full panel set
  • Ten in the pack — enough to keep paint, glass and interior cloths permanently separate
  • Machine washable at 40°C and good for years if you keep fabric softener away from them

When to use it

The finishing stages. Buffing cured wax and sealant, levelling spray ceramics, quick detailer wipe-downs, and the last pass on glass and gloss trim. This is the cloth that decides how the car actually looks.

Care

Machine wash at 40°C with a microfibre-safe detergent. No fabric softener and no high-heat tumble drying — both glaze the fibres and kill absorbency for good. Wash paint cloths on their own, and check for trapped grit before every use.

Straight from us

Decide which face does which job before you start, and stick to it for the whole car. Flipping at random puts the loaded side back onto the panel and throws away the entire reason for buying a dual pile cloth.

What it won't do

It is not a drying towel. At 40 x 40cm it will hold water, but you will be wringing it out every panel — use a twisted loop drying towel for that and keep these for the finish. It is also not a wash mitt: never take a cloth this soft to a dirty panel.

Frequently asked questions

What does dual pile actually mean?
Each side has a different fibre length. The longer, plusher side lifts and holds product; the shorter, tighter side buffs what is left into a clean, streak-free finish.

Are they safe on piano black and screens?
Yes — edgeless means there is no hard stitched border to leave a line. The surface still needs to be free of grit first; no cloth makes a dirty panel safe.

What colour will I get?
Colour varies by batch. It has no bearing on the weave or the performance — treat these as your finishing cloths whatever shade turns up.

How long do they last?
Years, if they are washed properly. Softener and hot tumble drying are what kill microfibre, not use.

Directions

1. Work on a clean, decontaminated panel. A soft cloth on a dusty surface becomes an abrasive pad.

2. Fold the cloth into quarters — that gives you eight working faces per cloth.

3. Pick your sides and stay consistent: plush face for lifting product off, short-pile face for the final buff.

4. Let wax, sealant or spray ceramic cure to the manufacturer's timing, then remove with almost no pressure using the plush face.

5. Flip to the short-pile face and buff in straight, overlapping strokes. If it starts to drag, that face is loaded — turn to a fresh one rather than pressing harder.

6. Keep separate cloths for paint, glass, interior and wheels. Cross-contamination is what puts swirls in.

7. Machine wash at 40°C with a microfibre-safe detergent. No fabric softener, no high-heat tumble drying. Air dry, and wash paint cloths on their own.
