Bleeding Rim Colour-Changing pH-Neutral Wheel Cleaner

Brake dust is not dirt sitting on the wheel. It is hot iron fired into the lacquer under braking, and it keeps corroding there long after a shampoo has run off the face. Bleeding Rim is a pH-neutral gel wheel cleaner that dissolves that embedded iron and bleeds red while it works, so you can see the fallout leaving instead of guessing whether the wheel is actually clean.

Why it works

• Reacts with iron particles from brake dust and turns red on contact, so the contamination is visible as it lifts
• pH neutral at pH 7 - no acid, so it is safe to use regularly on coated, polished and delicate finishes
• Gel body clings to the vertical face and streams slowly through the spokes instead of running straight onto the ground
• 3 to 5 minutes of dwell does the work; a wheel brush is only needed for heavy build-up behind the spokes

When to use it

Every second or third wash on a car doing normal road miles, and always before you seal or coat a wheel - sealing over embedded iron just locks it in. Work on a cool wheel out of direct sun, and follow it with something from our wheel sealants if you want the next few washes to be easier.

The colour change is the useful part, not a party trick. If it bleeds red again on a second pass, the fallout was deeper than it looked, and on a car that lives outside through a Northern Ireland winter that is most wheels by February. We keep the 750ml on the shelf for a fortnightly wash; the 5L is the one to buy if you are cleaning more than your own car.

What it won't do

It will not shift tar or glue - that needs a dedicated tar remover - and it will not bring back lacquer that has already corroded from fallout left too long. It is a decontaminant, not a polish.
