A shiny dashboard is a giveaway that the wrong product went on it. Greasy dressings look wet for a day, then hold dust, reflect in the windscreen and show every fingerprint. Elements Xpert Interior Trim & Dash Enhancer is an anti-static interior dressing that restores plastic, vinyl and dashboards to a natural matte finish that is dry to the touch, with UV protection to slow the fading that turns dark trim grey.

When to use it

The last interior step, once the surfaces are clean and dry. Dashboard, door cards, centre console, plastic sills and vinyl trim. Twice a year on a car that lives outside is enough to keep the top of a dark dash from going grey.

Straight from us

Spray the cloth, not the dash. Straight onto the panel and you get overspray on the windscreen and the instrument glass, which is a bigger job to put right than the dressing was. An applicator pad gets an even coat into grained plastic — the HELIO applicator is what we use for it.

What it won't do

It will not clean heavily soiled trim — dressing over grime seals it in, so clean first with Go2 Cleaner. Keep it off steering wheels, pedals, gear knobs and touchscreens, where added slickness is a safety problem. It is an interior product; faded exterior plastics need Exterior Trim Restorer.

Will it leave my dashboard shiny or greasy?
No. Interior Trim & Dash Enhancer dries to a natural matte finish that is dry to the touch, which is why it does not reflect in the windscreen or show fingerprints.

Can I use it on the steering wheel?
No. Keep it off steering wheels, pedals and gear knobs — added slickness on a control surface is a safety risk. Clean those with an interior cleaner instead.

Is it safe on touchscreens?
Avoid screens and instrument glass entirely. Clean those with a dedicated glass or screen cloth and no dressing.

How often should I reapply it?
It is a dressing rather than a coating, so it renews with the interior clean. Most people reapply when the dust starts settling again rather than to a schedule.
