Glass Shine Glass Cleaner & Polish

Smeared glass is nearly always the cleaner or the cloth, not the technique. Household sprays leave a residue that shows up the moment the sun drops, and the oily film that builds on the inside of a windscreen needs something made for automotive glass. Elements Xpert Glass Shine is a ready-to-use glass cleaner and polish that lifts grease, fingerprints, water spots and road film, then buffs off residue-free with a light water-repellent effect on exterior glass.

When to use it

The last step of every wash, inside and out. Windscreen, side glass, rear screen and mirrors — and the inside of the windscreen far more often than most people do it, because that is where the film that scatters oncoming headlights builds up.

Two cloths, two directions. Wipe with the first cloth left to right, buff with a second dry cloth up and down, and any streak that survives tells you instantly which side of the glass it is on. Spray onto the cloth rather than the glass for interior screens so nothing lands on the dash — and never use a cloth that has been near a dressing or washed with fabric softener.

What it won't do

It will not shift bonded contamination. Overspray, tar spots and that gritty feel on a windscreen sit on top of the glass rather than in the film, and they need a clay bar or a glass polish. The hydrophobic effect is a useful bonus too, not a substitute for a dedicated rain-repellent glass coating.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my glass still streaky?
Nearly always the cloth. Use a dedicated waffle-weave glass cloth that has never had wax, dressing or fabric softener near it, and buff with a second dry cloth in the opposite direction to the first.

Can I use Glass Shine on tinted windows?
Aftermarket tint film is applied to the inside of the glass, so spray Glass Shine onto the cloth rather than directly onto the film, work gently, and avoid soaking the bonded edges.

Does Glass Shine repel rain?
It leaves a light hydrophobic effect that helps water bead and run off exterior glass. For a lasting rain-repellent finish you want a dedicated glass coating on top.

Can I use it on the inside of the windscreen?
Yes, and that is the surface that needs it most. Spray onto the cloth rather than the glass so no overspray lands on the dashboard or instrument cluster.
