VW Golf Mk7 Rear Cap Spoiler

A cap spoiler for the Golf Mk7 — it sits over the top edge of the factory hatch spoiler and extends it, rather than replacing it. Gloss black out of the box, tape-fit, nothing removed from the car.

Fitting it

Clean the mounting face with panel wipe. Dry fit and mark the position with masking tape before the backing paper comes off — once tape touches paint it does not move. Warm both surfaces, press firmly along the whole length, and leave it 24 hours before washing or driving fast.

Mark it with masking tape before the backing paper comes off. Automotive tape grabs on contact and does not give you a second go, so the dry fit is the whole job. Warm the panel and the part, press from the centre out, and leave the car alone for a day.

What it won't do

It does not replace the factory spoiler — it needs the factory spoiler there to sit on.

It is not aerodynamic.

It is not injection-moulded ABS. Vacuum-formed plastic is lighter and more forgiving on impact, but it is thinner, and it is not a structural part.
