Shampoo & Hydro-Wax

A wash-and-wax shampoo is the honest shortcut: it will not replace a proper wax, but on a car that gets washed every weekend it keeps a little protection topped up without a separate step. Tenzi Detailer Car Shampoo & Wax is a gentle hand-wash car shampoo with hydro-wax built in, so the thick foam lifts road grime and leaves a water-repellent layer behind as you rinse.

When to use it

Weekly maintenance washes with the two-bucket method, on cars that have a wax or sealant you want to keep topped up, or that have nothing on them and need a little something. Not the shampoo for a strip wash before polishing — use a pure shampoo for that.

Straight from us

Use it at the stronger end, 100ml in the bucket, and rinse with a hose on an open stream rather than a jet — the water sheets off and takes the drying job with it. It sits alongside our plain Gloss Enhancing Car Shampoo: same gentle wash, this one leaves a bit of wax behind. Before any polishing or coating work, wash with the plain shampoo instead so there is no wax film on the panel.

What it won't do

It will not last like a real wax — the layer it leaves is light and refreshed every wash, not a months-long coating. Tenzi publish no durability figure and neither will we. It also will not remove tar, fallout or bonded film; that is decontamination, not shampoo.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Car Shampoo & Wax on a ceramic coated car?
You can, but a coating does not need wax on top and the hydro-wax may mask the coating's own water behaviour. On coated cars a pure pH-neutral shampoo is the better choice.

How much do I use?
Tenzi publish 50 to 100ml per 10L of water. Pre-rinse the car, wash top to bottom with a mitt, then rinse thoroughly and dry.

Does it replace waxing the car?
No. It tops up a light layer of protection every wash, which is useful between waxes, but a proper wax or sealant still does the heavy lifting.

Will it streak on dark paint?
Tenzi publish it as leaving no stains. Rinse well and dry with a clean towel rather than letting it air dry in sun, and dark paint comes up fine.
