Glory Glow Polish

Paint that has been washed for a few years goes flat before it goes damaged. The clearcoat picks up a haze of fine marring that scatters light, so a car can be spotlessly clean and still look dull under a streetlight. Glory Glow is Kellean Chemicals' gloss-enhancing polish — the step between washing a car and protecting it, where the depth comes back into the paint.

Why it works

• Polishing refines the clearcoat surface so it reflects light evenly instead of scattering it — that is what reads as gloss
• Sits between decontamination and protection in the detailing order, and lifts the result of both
• 500ml goes a long way: a polish is applied in a thin film, not poured on

When to use it

After the wash and any decontamination, on clean dry paint, and always before your wax or sealant goes on. Bonnet, roof and boot lid show flat paint first because they take the most sun. Follow it with something from our wax range — polish on its own leaves the paint bare and unprotected.

Kellean don't publish a cut rating for Glory Glow, so we treat it as a finishing polish rather than a corrective one — start on a test panel with a soft pad and light pressure, and step things up only if the panel asks for it. That is the right approach with any polish whose abrasive grade you don't know, and it costs you one panel to find out.

What it won't do

It won't protect the paint. A polish improves the surface and then leaves it bare, so a wax or sealant has to follow or you have done half a job. It also won't remove deep scratches you can catch a fingernail in — those are through the clearcoat and past what any polish reaches; heavier defects need a cut compound and a machine.

Kellean Chemicals don't publish a hand-or-machine recommendation for Glory Glow. Most gloss-enhancing polishes work either way — start by hand on a test panel and move to a machine with a soft finishing pad if you want more from it.

Do I need to wax after polishing?
Yes. Polishing leaves bare, unprotected clearcoat, so a wax, sealant or coating should follow the same day if you can.

Will Glory Glow remove scratches?
Kellean don't publish a cut level, so treat it as a gloss enhancer rather than a corrective polish. Anything you can catch a fingernail in needs a cut compound and a machine polisher.

How much do I need per car?
Less than you would think. A polish is worked in a thin film — a few pea-sized drops per panel, which is why a 500ml bottle covers a lot of cars.
