What is oil film on a windscreen?

A bonded layer of traffic residue, exhaust oils and old product that causes hazy smearing — worst at night and in rain. Normal glass cleaners can't fully remove it; a polishing compound can.

How do I know when the glass is properly clean?

Water stops beading and sheets flat across the surface — that means the oil film and old coatings are gone and the glass is ready for coating.

Do I have to use it before applying Glaco?

Strongly recommended. A coating bonded to clean, bare glass lasts dramatically longer than one applied over invisible contamination.

Directions

1. Wash the glass first and shake the bottle well.
2. Apply the compound to the glass with the applicator and work it in overlapping circular motions.
3. Keep working until water no longer beads on the surface — that's the sign the oil film and old coatings are gone.
4. Rinse or wipe the glass clean and dry. Apply your Glaco coating immediately after for the best bond. Exterior glass only — do not use on coated interior surfaces.
