Tyre Gleam Tyre Dressing

Clean wheels on grey tyres still look like an unfinished job. Sidewalls go that dusty grey because UV and road salt draw the oils out of the rubber, and washing does nothing about it. Elements Xpert Tyre Gleam is a silicone-based tyre dressing that puts a deep, natural black back on the sidewall and leaves a protective layer that slows the fading coming back.

When to use it

The last job on the wheels, once the tyres have been cleaned, rinsed and dried properly. Dressing over a dirty sidewall is what causes the brown sling up the side of a car two miles down the road. Suits cars, vans and 4x4s.

Level it, then leave it. Spread a thin coat with an applicator, wipe the excess off with a microfibre and let it dry before you move the car — that is the whole difference between a clean black sidewall and dressing flung up the rear quarter. If you want more depth, a second thin coat once the first has dried beats one heavy one every time.

What it won't do

It will not clean the tyre. Dressing applied over old dressing and brake dust goes patchy and slings, so clean the sidewall first with Rim & Tyre Shampoo. Keep it off the tread, the brakes and anywhere reduced grip would be a safety risk, and remove any overspray from paintwork promptly.

Why does tyre dressing sling onto my paintwork?
Almost always over-application, or applying it to a sidewall that was not properly clean and dry. Spread a thin coat, level it with a microfibre and let it dry before driving.

Do I need to clean the tyre first?
Yes. Clean and rinse the sidewall, then let it dry completely. Dressing over old product and brake dust goes patchy and will not last.

Is Tyre Gleam glossy or matte?
It gives a deep natural black rather than a wet plastic gloss. A second thin coat after the first has dried adds more depth if that is the look you want.
